General Pace Declares Cultural War March 13, 2007
Posted by Mark in : I'm Not Gay, Politics , 2 commentsIn a newspaper interview Monday, chairman of the military Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Peter Pace called homosexuality immoral and so fired the first shot in his personal cultural war. (Link) At first this really upset me, but the more I pondered it, the less it bothered me. Why? He can’t seem to win the war in Iraq, so how can he win this one?
I do think it is interesting to hear about morality from a man that doesn’t understand how to take care of his own troops. It would be more cogent for him to discuss the situation at Walter Reed Hospital and the other medical facilities that take care of our veterans. Of course his miserable failure to successfully prosecute the war and his dreadful neglect of the heroes returning from overseas is why he made the remarks on Monday.
Its an old magicians trick, misdirection.

Counselor Says Ted Haggard Is Now ‘Completely Heterosexual’

A minister involved in disgraced evangelist Ted Haggard’s intensive three-week counseling said the New Life Church founder is now “completely heterosexual.â€
“He is completely heterosexual,” Tim Ralph told the Associated Press. “That is something he discovered. It was the acting-out situations where things took place. It wasn’t a constant thing.”
Ralph said the board spoke with people close to Haggard while investigating his claim that his only extramarital sexual contact happened with Mike Jones. The board found no evidence to the contrary.
“If we’re going to be proved wrong, somebody else is going to come forward, and that usually happens really quickly,” he said, reports the AP. “We’re into this thing over 90 days and it hasn’t happened.”
Haggard resigned as president of the National Association of Evangelicals last year after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced. He was also forced out from the 14,000 New Life Church that he founded years ago in his basement after Jones alleged Haggard paid him for sex and sometimes used methamphetamine when they were together. Haggard, who is married, has publicly admitted to “sexual immorality.”
According to a report by the Colorado Springs Gazette, Haggard says he plans to move to Missouri or Iowa and return to college.
The Gazette reports that Haggard wrote in an e-mail that his family had been “offered two places†in the Midwestern states. He and his wife, Gayle, will go back to school together, Haggard said, but he didn’t specify where.
Both plan to get master’s degrees in psychology, he wrote, “so we can work together serving others the rest of our lives.†Haggard sent the e-mail to some church members, reports the Gazette.
The AP reports that another minister who oversaw Haggard’s counseling, the Rev. Mike Ware of Westminster, said the oversight board recommended the move out of town and the Haggards agreed.
“This is a good place for Ted,” Ware told the AP. “It’s hard to heal in Colorado Springs right now. It’s like an open wound. He needs to get somewhere he can get the wound healed.”
It was also the oversight board that strongly urged Haggard to go into secular work, reports the AP.

They met Arthur, Jeremiah and me for lunch at a 50’s diner in Sherman Oaks. We had a great time. Later in the day my brother sent me a text message. S is my niece. It read:
“S asked if A&J were gay and said she knew because a) they are cute together and b) their hands were nicely moisturized.”
